Low Carb Chocolate Mousse

That’s right, chocolate mousse was my first love. My first low carb dessert love that is!

I’ve always had a big sweet tooth growing up. When I first started shifting to a low carb lifestyle, I couldn’t last a week without getting a sweet treat (while staying Keto, of course)! Back then, all I used was heavy cream and unsweetened cocoa. But now I know better!

This version is much tastier! This recipe has a few more ingredients than my original, all while staying keto-friendly and tasting x2 better.

I am sure you will enjoy this low carb chocolate mousse as much as we do!

Naturally Sweetened

I love this low carb chocolate mousse not only because it’s rich and creamy, but also because it’s naturally sweetened without any harmful chemicals.

Choosing to follow a low carb diet has made me more aware of what I put into my body. Before I would just walk down the baking aisle and pick up a box of instant pudding and whip that up. But, in most of those, there are way too many ingredients that I no longer want to consume, even (or especially) in the “sugar-fee” instant boxes. Those always seem to have the worst and scariest ingredients!

I love knowing what I’m putting into my body now. No more relying on conveniently packaged food products! I will always prefer quality over convenience!

To make this a sugar-free dessert, you’ll need to use a natural sweetener. My favorite granulated sweeteners are Monk fruit (no after taste) or the Stevia packets.

How To Make Low Carb Chocolate Mousse

step by step photos to make low carb chocolate mousse

This can be quite the complicated one.

You see, what we are doing here is adding all the ingredients together into one large bowl. Find your electric blender, set it to medium speed, and blend until your arms are tired, or for about 3 minutes. You’ll want to blend until your mousse is creamy and stiff peaks are formed. Pretty tough, huh? 😉

Seriously though, I love having a quick and easy recipe on hand when I want something sweet and chocolatey. I should point out that you can sweeten this yummy dessert more or less to suit your taste buds. If you want it more chocolatey, add a little more cocoa. If you want it sweeter, add more sweetener. Easy Peasey!

  • Organic Stevia Packets – Another great sweetener alternative. These are awesome packets to take on the go.

The Perfect Low Carb Chocolate Treat

I love how creamy this turned out, and it is so filling! Due to the heavy cream being a high-fat dairy, this basically acts as a fat bomb as well.

“Fat Bomb” is a term you may be familiar with if you’re on the ketogenic diet. You can learn more about it here.

To optimize the flavor even more, add some whipped cream on top (I know, I know, whipped cream on your whipped cream – weird) and garnish with some unsweetened cocoa nibs or even some Lilys chocolate chips.

This would also be a great topping on a cake! I’m more of a buttercream girl but my mom loves a good whipped cream icing on a cake, so I may have to make this for her birthday!

We remade the recipe and added them in these super cute mason jars with ChocZero Bark (keto friendly chocolate) on top and it was the best decision ever! Our code “buttertogetherkitchen” gets you 10% off HERE.
