Low Carb Chocolate Mousse

That’s right, chocolate mousse was my first love. My first low-carb dessert love, that is!

I’ve always had a big sweet tooth. When I first started shifting to a low-carb lifestyle, I couldn’t last a week without a sweet treat while staying keto, of course! Back then, all I used was heavy cream and unsweetened cocoa. But now I know better!

This version is much tastier! This recipe has a few more ingredients than my original, all while staying keto-friendly and tasting twice as good.

I am sure you will enjoy this low-carb chocolate mousse as much as we do!

Naturally Sweetened

I love this low-carb chocolate mousse because it’s rich, creamy, and easy to sweeten without sugar.

Following a low-carb diet has made me more aware of what I use in a recipe. I used to grab a box of instant pudding from the baking aisle and whip that up. Making mousse from scratch lets me choose the ingredients and adjust the sweetness to my taste.

To make this a sugar-free dessert, use a sugar-free sweetener. My favorite granulated options are Lakanto monk fruit sweetener or stevia packets.

How to Make Low Carb Chocolate Mousse

This can be quite the complicated one.

You see, what we are doing here is adding all the ingredients together into one large bowl. Use an electric mixer on medium speed and beat for about 3 minutes, until the mousse is creamy and forms stiff peaks. Pretty tough, huh? 😉

Seriously though, I love having a quick and easy recipe on hand when I want something sweet and chocolatey. I should point out that you can sweeten this yummy dessert more or less to suit your taste buds. If you want it more chocolatey, add a little more cocoa. If you want it sweeter, add more sweetener. Easy peasy!

The Perfect Low Carb Chocolate Treat

I love how creamy this turned out, and it is so filling! Because heavy cream is high in fat, this can also work as a fat bomb.

“Fat bomb” is a term you may be familiar with if you’re on the ketogenic diet. You can learn more about it here.

To optimize the flavor even more, add some whipped cream on top (I know, I know, whipped cream on your whipped cream—weird) and garnish with some unsweetened cocoa nibs or even some Lily’s chocolate chips.

This would also be a great topping on a cake! I’m more of a buttercream girl but my mom loves a good whipped cream icing on a cake, so I may have to make this for her birthday!
