Best Keto Whipped Coffee (Dalgona Coffee)

Introduction

Whipped coffee is one of the latest internet trends that everyone seems to be talking about, and for good reason!

A quick search of the hashtag #whippedcoffee yields millions of results. While the traditional version is not keto friendly, we have come up with a delicious keto version that is just as good, if not better, than the original!

Whipped coffee is known for being sweet, bold, creamy, and delicious. If you are a coffee aficionado or someone who doesn’t even really care for coffee that much, you are sure to love this keto version of whipped coffee! I have put together a gorgeous collection of kitchen storage containers to help you organize your kitchen and keep your ingredients fresh for longer; look out for coffee canister amazon that will lock in the aroma and flavors of your bean coffee.

Believe it or not, most recipes for whipped coffee include two tablespoons of sugar… for an eight ounce glass! That is a crazy amount of sugar, especially for just one glass, and you can make some great coffee using a coffee maker from this keurig b70 coffee maker review.

So, be your own barista and enjoy a cup of whipped coffee without all the sugar that is even better than the original! And we also found UK Coffee Machines recently too which is a brilliant place to find the best coffee machine in the UK.

What is Dalgona Coffee?

“Whipped coffee” is actually dalgona coffee, and it has been around well before the internet picked up on it.

The most basic Dalgona coffee consists of instant coffee, sugar (or in our case, monkfruit), and hot water that are all whipped together. Once the foamy, creamy mixture is whipped, it is typically poured over a glass of iced milk.

Then there is some debate: do you mix everything together, or enjoy it with the whipped mixture at the top and the milk at the bottom?

Often times, the drink is mixed all together before being enjoyed, but I believe the technically proper way to enjoy this drink is by sipping it with the whipped coffee floating at the top. But hey, there is no right or wrong way to enjoy a cup of Dalgona.

Fun fact, “Dalgona” originated in South Korea, and it’s name means “wow it’s sweet” in Korean, which seems appropriate given that it typically contains so much sugar. If you have a coffee maker at home, Archute teaches you how to clean it properly.

What Makes This Whipped Coffee Keto Friendly?

There are really only a couple changes to the recipe to make this keto version of whipped coffee.

The first is to swap sugar for a keto friendly sweetener like monk fruit, and then the second is to replace milk with heavy cream.

While milk contains a surprisingly high amount of sugar and carbs, heavy cream contains almost no carbs and no sugar.

Another great benefit of swapping milk for heavy cream is that heavy cream is much higher in fat. Keto is not just about eliminating sugar and carbs, but it is also about increasing your fat intake to fuel your body.

This keto whipped coffee will do just that!

Use An Electric Milk Frother

So, in order to make “whipped” coffee, you will need some way to whip it. The easiest way to do it is with an electric milk frother. An electric milk frother is basically a miniature blender that runs on batteries.

The head of it looks like a stretched out spring that’s been made into a circle, and it just spins to create froth.

Using one of these makes it super simple and convenient to whip up a cup of whipped coffee!

Best Tasting Sugar Substitute For Whipped Coffee

Lakanto’s Monkfruit is the best keto friendly sweetener to use by far. We use it for everything sweet that we make, and this whipped keto coffee is no exception.

Monkfruit tastes great, it has a 1:1 ratio to sugar making it super easy to substitute in recipes, it has no cooling aftertaste like most sugar substitutes, it’s all natural, and it is zero glycemic, meaning it won’t raise your blood sugar levels at all. Lakanto really is a must-have if you are living the keto lifestyle!
